Add and Activate SAP Fiori Apps Using the Custom Fields and Logic App

If you can't access a specific app on your Fiori Launchpad using transaction code /N/UI2/FLP, here’s how you can find the relevant details and add it using the Custom Fields and Logic app (or is it the Custom Fields app? Or maybe the Custom Logic app? We'll find out).




Step 1: Find the App in the Fiori Apps Library
Go to the SAP Fiori Apps Library and click on All Apps.




Now search for your app by name—for example, "Custom Fields."
(In modern SAP, most searches are done using descriptive text rather than app IDs.)




Step 2: Get the App Details
From the search results, select the app. On the right-hand side, you’ll see full details, including the App ID and all the titles it's associated with. You can also select the specific SAP system you're working in to view system-specific information.




In the Implementation Information section, you’ll find everything you need to activate the app in your system—starting with the Application and OData service details.




You’ll also see Fiori Launchpad details like the app launcher description (what appears on the tile).




Next are the Catalogs and Groups that provide access to the app.




You'll also find the related Pages and Spaces.




And importantly, you’ll see the Business Role information—this is what you'll use to authorize access to the app.




There’s also a section showing Extensibility Options for the app.




Step 3: Assign the Business Role in SU01
Go to transaction code SU01 and enter the username of the person who needs access.




Now enter the business role listed in the Fiori App Library—for example, SAP_BR_EXTENSIBILITY_SPEC. Press Enter and then Save.

Step 4: Launch the App
Reload the Fiori Launchpad. You should now see the app(s) available.




Troubleshooting: Check If the Service is Active
If the app doesn’t appear, check if the actual service is active using transaction code SICF.

Go to SICF, enter the service name from the Fiori Apps Library, and press Execute.




The service should appear in the results.




Right-click the service name in the tree to activate it (if it’s already active, the option will be greyed out).
