Message number 609 of class B1 is used to display message "Local error in R/2, error code returned: &" and can be triggered using the following ABAP code:

DATA: lv_val1(100) TYPE C.
lv_val1 = '123'.

    MESSAGE E609(B1) WITH lv_val1. "Error message example

    MESSAGE W609(B1) WITH lv_val1. "Warning message example

    MESSAGE I609(B1) WITH lv_val1. "Information message example

What causes this issue

The R/2 system received the IDoc, but an error occurred during
subsequent processing. The error code returned was &v1&.

How to fix

More information can be found in the EDI log in the R/2 system.
It is not necessary to re-send this IDoc.
