MTPER is a standard SAP Structure so does not store data like a database table does. It can be used to define the fields of other actual tables or to process "Periods at Database Level" Information within sap ABAP programs.

This is done by declaring abap internal tables, work areas or database tables based on this Structure. These can then be used to store and process the required data appropriately.

i.e. DATA: wa_MTPER TYPE MTPER.

The MTPER table consists of various fields, each holding specific information or linking keys about Periods at Database Level data available in SAP. These include MBGJA (Fiscal year of MBEW or EBEW or QBEW), RMBEWH (Ind.: MBEWH/EBEWH/QBEWH for prev. period could not be read), MCLFM (Current period (posting period)), MCGJA (Fiscal Year of Current Period).. How do I retrieve data from SAP structure MTPER using ABAP code?

As MTPER is a database structure and not a table it does not store any data in the SAP data dictionary. The ABAP SELECT statement is therefore not appropriate and can not be performed on MTPER as there is no data to select.
